superquick CatHat!
Late for christmas gifts? This CatHat takes you 30 mins! (Maybe an hour for a absolute beginner)
Materials used:
I used a bulky yarn (5) and a 9mm hook.
Stitches used:
Ch: Chain
SC: Single Crochet
SC BLO: Single Crochet Back Loop Only
Ch: Chain
SC: Single Crochet
SC BLO: Single Crochet Back Loop Only
Need to know:
Chain 1 or chain 2 at the beginning of a row does not count as a stitch.
Let's go!
Pattern ribbing:
- Ch 11
- SC in the second chain from the hook and every stitch till the end (10), Ch 1, turn
- *SCBLO in every SC from previous row (10), chain 1, turn* For the first and laat SC, go through both loops. This gives a much cleaner edge!
Repeat ** 36 times (or till the ribbing fit's your head, folded in half over the longest side)
- Slip stitch the ends together and turn the ribbing sideways and turn the good side to the inside! We are working to the top now.
At the end we will be folding this ribbing in half, take this into consideration when making your chain, if you want a big or small ribbing, adjust your number of stitches.
Actual hat pattern:
- Ch 1, 1 SC at the top of every 'row' you did on the ribbing (36 - or whatever number of rows you ended up with)
- Ch 2, 1 DC in every SC from the previous round till end of row, slip stitch.
- Ch 2, 1DC in every DC from the previous round, repeat for 11 rows
You want the first round that gives a loose close, when it's on your head, to be your last round.
You can do more rows if you want your ribbing (wich we are gonna fold over at the end) to be bigger.
Turn the hat inside out, lay it flat on the table to look like a big square.
Slip stitch or use a yarn needle to close the ends together.
Turn it back so the good side of the hat faces you and fold your ribbing over in half (or however long you want your ribbing to be).
If you liked it, post the results on instagram with the hashtag: #HappycrochetthingsCatHat so i can see how it turned out too!
I've tried sketching the pattern out for those who like a more visual pattern, it will be on here tomorrow, after some adjustments!
